Contest Rules

Entry submission for the 2018 Teledyne CARIS calendar contest opens October 3rd and closes November 9th. The contest is open to all users of CARIS software worldwide, age 18 years or older. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. By submitting an entry, entrants agree to the rules of the contest. Teledyne CARIS reserves the right to cancel or modify the contest rules at any time without notice.


Entries will be accepted via the online submission portal located at To be eligible, submissions must include:

  • Image(s) created using CARIS software
  • Must be submitted in uncompressed JPG, PNG, TIF, or BMP format at a resolution of minimally 300dpi
  • Images must not include any organization trade names and/or logo
  • Image description
  • A photo of the submitter
  • Biography of the submitter

Entrants can submit up to four (4) entries. If selected, finalists may be asked to submit a dataset or a high-resolution file suitable for print reproduction.


Following the submission deadline on November 9th, all eligible images will be posted to the Teledyne CARIS Facebook page for public voting. Voting will open to the public beginning November 14th, and ending at 20:00:00 (GMT) November 24th. Images posted for voting will include the description of the image, with the entrant's name withheld.

Selection Process

Once voting polls close, the 12 entries receiving the highest number of votes will be deemed the 12 finalists and included in the 2018 digital calendar. There will be one overall, grand-prize winner selected from this group by a Teledyne CARIS committee. This grand-prize winner will be awarded a RICOH THETA V 360 degree camera, shipped to them at no cost. All 12 finalists will be contacted via email.


The 12 finalist images, including the overall winner, will be featured as part of the 2018 monthly digital Teledyne CARIS calendar. Name, photo, biography, image and image description will be published as part of the calendar. Images will be featured on the Teledyne CARIS website as a publically downloadable desktop monthly calendar. By submitting any type of image as outlined in the rules and regulations to this contest, entrants grant Teledyne CARIS a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any Teledyne CARIS purpose. Any image reproduced will include credit to the author where possible. Teledyne CARIS will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
